Refreshing pineapple cooler for children

This fruit-sweetened pineapple cooler is a delicious drink for kids with no added sugar! Skip the soda and do this for your kids at home.

Refreshing homemade drink

Did your kids ask you to go to the drinks that are all the hype right now? Swig, Fizz, Sodalicious … they're everywhere!

I let my kids get soda every now and then as a reward (because the balance …) but honestly, I really don't like it when they drink soda. Instead, I make them fancy drinks at home that are based on fruit and are super tasty.

Not only is this pineapple cooler super quick to prepare, it also doesn't add any sugar or sweeteners. The pineapple itself is sweet enough to make a refreshing delicious drink. Pro Pineapple Tip: Flip your pineapple over on your counter so it can ripen and all of the sweetness flows through the pineapple. When my pineapple is really ripe, I don't need to add any sweetener to this delicious drink.

Homemade drinks are healthier

Did you know that a 20 ounce pineapple fanta contains 80 grams of sugar?!?! When I first read it I almost didn't believe it. It's so cute that I'm surprised that kids don't get sick after drinking. That's almost as much sugar as eating a whole pineapple alone!

Instead of a sugary lemonade, making this pineapple cooler at home with fresh pineapple gives your kids loads of vitamin C, fiber, potassium, and B vitamins.

You can customize your pineapple coolers to suit your kids' texture preferences. You can blend it in super smoothly, mix it with ice, or even pour it over crushed ice to make it feel more like a slushie. If your kids like sweeter drinks, you can either use more pineapple to make it sweeter, or you can use a bit of honey to add more sweetness to it.

This recipe is enough for 3 small children and 2 adults. I really think it would be fun to serve at a pool party, birthday party, or other family gathering. Just double and triple to feed a crowd. What a fun and healthy punch bowl drink with a little sparkling water! Whenever you serve it, I hope you enjoy this naturally sweetened homemade fruit drink!

More of my favorite pineapple recipes:

  • 1 small / medium pineapple Cored, the rind removed and roughly diced for the mixer
  • 2 cups water or combine ice and water if you want it to get mushy
  • 1 TL Almond extract
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon This is optional – my kids like a little and I like a lot, so I tend to use a little and add more to my mug!
  • For a smooth drink, put everything in a powerful blender and stir until smooth with the juicing option.

  • For a slushie drink Put the pineapple, half a cup of water, almond extract, and lemon juice in a powerful blender and use the juicing mixture until smooth. Put 1 1/2-2 cups of ice in the blender and pulse until the ice is the size you want for the drink. You can mix a lot for small pieces of ice or just pulse a little for more crushed ice.
