Greek turkey burger

These Greek turkey burgers mixed with Kalamata olives, feta and spinach combine all of my favorite Greek flavors and can be served with or without a bun.

Greek turkey burger

These Greek turkey burgers are so tasty, and I love that they can be served two different ways. Serve on a toasted wholemeal bun with butter lettuce, cucumber slices, thin red onion slices, sliced tomatoes, and some Greek yogurt or as a main course without the bread that comes with rice, tomatoes, cucumbers, and red onions. For some other turkey burger recipes, try my Naked Greek Feta Zucchini Turkey Burger or Turkey Burger with Zucchini.

I got my hands on the Fit Men Cook Meal Prep cookbook (Affil-Link) and couldn't decide which recipe to make first! I've been following Kevin on Instagram for a long time, but I've never had his book. I've always been the biggest fan of his work and positive energy, so I knew I would love his book. I chose this Greek turkey burger recipe because it's barbecue season and I love turkey burgers! You can do this on the inside of the pan, outside on the grill, or bake them in the oven. Serve them on a bun or turn them into rice bowls for meal preparation. I also have a version of the Greek Feta and Zucchini Turkey Burgers which are a little different, they contain zucchini instead of spinach and no olives.

Is a turkey burger healthier than a hamburger?

It depends on! Turkey burgers can be healthier than ground beef hamburgers, but it all depends on the fat content of the ground turkey. Ground turkey can be quite fatty if you don't use lean meat. This burger recipe calls for 93% ground turkey, which means 93% is lean with only 7% fat. Lean turkey is an excellent substitute for ground beef if you are watching your calorie or red meat consumption.

What is a Greek burger made of?

These Greek burgers are made with lean ground turkey, flavored with chopped garlic, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper. Kalamata olives and feta are added for some salty Greek flavors and chopped spinach for extra nutrients.

How long to cook turkey burgers

I cook these turkey burgers in an ovenproof non-stick pan over medium heat for 3-4 minutes on one side and then a minute on the other. Then I put the pan in the oven at 420 degrees for 9-11 minutes. You can also bake them on a baking sheet for 8-10 minutes if you don't have an ovenproof pan. If you'd rather cook these turkey burgers on the grill, you definitely can. Regardless of how you cook the burgers, you'll want to make sure the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees. So be sure to use a meat thermometer to check this.

These Greek turkey burgers mixed with Kalamata olives, feta and spinach combine all of my favorite Greek flavors and can be served with or without a bun.

 • 1 ½ lb 93% lean turkey
 • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
 • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
 • 2 teaspoon dried oregano
 • 1/3 Cup Kalamata olives, finely chopped
 • 3 Ounces crumbled feta cheese
 • 1 Cup finely chopped and packaged fresh spinach
 • prize each sea salt and black pepper
 • Olive oil spray
 • Preheat the oven to 420 ° F.

 • Put all ingredients in a large bowl and mix well.

 • Take out a large handful of meat, roll it into a ball, and flatten it to form a pie about 1 ½ inch thick. Repeat with the remaining meat to make 5 large patties of equal size.

 • Once the patties are shaped, use your thumb to make a shallow indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from forming a dome as you cook.

 • Set a large, non-stick ovenproof pan over medium heat and lightly spray it with olive oil. When the pan is hot, add the patties.

 • Cook on one side for 3 to 4 minutes until the edges are brown and seared, then turn the patties.

 • Cook for another minute, then place the entire pan in the oven until the internal temperature is 9 to 11 minutes.

 • You can also bake them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil for 8 to 10 minutes.

 • Enjoy this as a burger with toasted wholegrain rolls, butter lettuce, cucumber slices, thin red onion slices (optional), tomato slices and some Greek yogurt instead of mayo. Or combine a patty with lettuce, rice, quinoa, or even roasted vegetables!
